Music

" Buddhist music is being continually elevated in standard and vitality. In particular, the expected standards for the melodious recitation are also rising."

Ven. Sik Kwang Sheng's sincere aspiration to offer listeners a tranquil experience that is pure and refreshing like the break of dawn

Our Productions

Below are some of our works which are available at Awareness Place. By the merits of producing these CDs, may all sentient beings be free from suffering.

Reverence is produced in homage to our original Teacher, Shakyamuni Buddha. In the graceful tune of flute floats the smooth melodious recitation of the Buddha's name. It is interspersed with the sound of gong and strong beats of Taiko drums followed by Ven. Kwang Sheng's "singing". From solo, to female and male ensemble, to singing in chorus..., the recitation and accompaniment shift from one climate to another till completion. (This tune is played at the '3 Steps 1 Bow Ceremony' every Vesak at KMSPKS Monastery.)

A Live CD recording of the 'Om' concert held at Kallang Theate in Dec 1998,it features students from the Gyuto Tantric University of India, the Zen Age Percussion Ensemble as well as the PKS Choir.
This 'Om' composition is a unique blend of New Age music, Om Mani Padme Hum mantra and the trangil and spirt-uplifing voice of the tibetant deep-throat chanting fused together with the enchanting sound of chinese Buddhist percussion instruments.
The Medicine Buddha is dear to the hearts of many, for they have indeed received the blessings in the form of miraculous cures of all kinds of illnesses.
This album was created to motivate us to sincerely recite the name of Medicine Buddha and His sutra, to be free from all illness.
Recitations of Namo Amitabha Buddha and Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in this CD are gentle in tempo. The resonance from within invokes a deep veneration of listeners towards Amitabha and the Bodhisattva. At the climax, the recitors radiate the joy of their tranquil minds.
