FACILITATORS:-  

Mrs Ng Gek Tiang
is a retired Principal and was a Superscale Education officer from Singapore*s Ministry of Education. In her 36 years of service, she served as Principal of three secondary schools, namely Springfield Secondary School, Crescent Girls* School and Ping Yi Secondary School where she was the founder Principal. She also had experience in the Ministry of Education, first as a Senior Inspector of Schools (now renamed Superintendent) providing professional guidance and leadership to schools under her charge and secondly as Assistant Director in the then Pastoral Care and Career Guidance Unit. In this second post, she provided direction and helped to formulate policies and programmes related to pupil welfare, social and emotional guidance, discipline and career guidance for schools. Mrs Ng holds a Masters of Education from the National University of Singapore / National Institute of Education, Certificate in Education from the then Teachers* Training College and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Singapore. She received several awards including the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) and the National Day Efficiency award from the Government of Singapore. As Chairman of the Professional Committee of the Singapore Teachers* Union from 1991 to 2003, Mrs Ng helped to organize many professional courses for teachers including Kagan*s Co-operative Learning and Multiple Intelligences courses. She was also an Adjunct Lecturer in the National Institute of Education from 1992 to 1994. Currently she is a free lance Education Consultant and has been a Validator for the Lee Kuan Yew National Educational Award for schools since 2007. A strong believer of the Dhamma, Mrs Ng has been attending sutra and Dhamma classes. In 2006 she went on a pilgrimage to Buddhist sites in India and this trip has strengthened her efforts to ※walk the path§ towards enlightenment.

Mrs Tan Guat Kim nee Teoh
graduated in 1957 from the University of Malaya with a BA Honours (History) and Diploma in Education. From 1957-1969, she taught English and History in the Anglo-Chinese Girls* School (now known as the Methodist Girls* School) in Ipoh West Malaysia. In 1970, she migrated to Singapore and taught General Paper and Histroy to Pre-University students at Raffles Girls* Secondary School (10 years). In 1980 she was appointed as the Vice-Principal of Serangoon Garden Secondary School and later as a Principal of Ang Mo Kio Secondary School (8 years). She retired in 1993. After her retirement, the National Arts Council (Arts Education Programme) appointed her as a guide for the Tan Swee Hian Muselum and also the Sculpture Walk. She also served as Project Officer to promote the National Arts Council*s Arts Education Programme by conducting Presentations to the Principals and staff in the Primary, Secondary Schools and ITE*s. As a Project Officer, she visited 110 to 120 schools per year so that the schools became more aware of the National Arts Council*s Arts Education Programme. In November 1997, she represented National Arts Council in the Asean Youth Friendship Programme - the "NATURE HUG" at the Art Camp Villa Escudero San Pablo City, Philippines. Since 2000 till now, Mrs Tan Guat Kim has been conducting Visual Arts Courses to the Primary, Secondary Schools and Institutes of Technical Education. Ther coursees are endorsed by the National Arts Council / Arts Education Programme. The courses include craft work, greeting cards, Thumbprint art, Paper Inspirations, Soft Sculpture and also visualization of the National Education Messages.
