Outdoor GuanYin PUSA
The temple's outdoor Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara) Bodhisattva image stands between the Dharma Hall and the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas. The image is of the Chinese tradition, depicting the embodiment of the perfection of Compassion in the form of a kindly Mother. Before Buddhism entered China, Guanyin Bodhisattva was usually depicted in the male form. In any case, since all Bodhisattvas and Buddhas transcend gender, their forms are seen as skillful means by which they connect to sentient beings.
