METTA SUTTA: GUIDE TO THE DHAMMA

Sutra Discussion and Q &A session by Sylvia Bay

The Metta (Loving-Kindness) Sutta is one of the well-known discourses preached by the Buddha. Although it was originally expounded to a group of practitioner monks to help them deal with the fears of living in a forest, its value goes far beyond just fear management. It actually captures the essence of the Buddha's teaching so succinctly and completely that a deep understanding of this Sutra would yield profound insight of the Dharma.

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE FACTORS FOR STREAM ENTRY!

Talk sum Q&A session by Sebastian Wong

In Buddhist training, Stream Entry is a very important first of the four stages of Awakening as taught in the Buddhist Canon. Upon attainment of Stream Entry, the practitioner is guaranteed to attain Awakening within seven lifetimes.  More importantly, the practitioner will not be reborn in a realm lower than that of humans.  This talk is a discussion of what the Buddha taught as the factors for Stream Entry and their practice in daily living.

There is a saying in Tibetan,
"
Tragedy should be utilized as a source of strength."
No matter what sort of difficulties, how painful experience is,
if we lose our hope, that's our real disaster.
