Prenatal Yoga Workshop For Mindful Mums And Dads

Going through pregnancy and preparing for birth is an important journey for moms and dads. It is a journey for learning, understanding, supporting and empathising with each other, which will extend throughout parenthood.

This workshop aims to bring the benefits of yoga and mindfulness to both moms and dads. Through this practice, parents will learn how to strengthen their bodies and relationships with full awareness; dads develop the intuition to help moms during pregnancy to ease her discomfort while moms tune in to her primitive system to allow her body to birth intuitively.

Prenatal Yoga Workshop
This workshop will briefly cover the following topics:
• Stages of labour and what to expect
• Role of partners
• Explore the different positions for labours
• Natural pain relief
• Birth preparation through breathing, visualization and meditation
• Encourage babies to turn to the optimal foetal position
• Some common discomforts during pregnancy and how to ease themThis workshop is suitable for expectant couples who are keen to practise yoga together while learning about how to stay healthy and active during pregnancy and birth.

Speakers’ Profiles:
Ms Cham Lay Peng
 is an Certified Yoga Instructor. Her career in yoga began in 2004, when she became one of the first YogaKids facilitators in Singapore to receive the full teaching certification from Yogakids International founder Marsha Wenig. Since then, she has taught yoga to her own children and students in schools. She furthered her training with Master Sivaram in the Sivananda Yoga tradition. The 5 points of yoga which is also the core teachings of Sivananda Yoga has always been her guidelines for physical and mental health – Proper Exercise, Proper Breathing, Proper Relaxation, Proper Diet and Positive Thinking and Meditation.In 2009, she received her “Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond Yoga” certification by Dr Jean Byrne from Australia. Ms Cham then embarked on a journey to teach prenatal yoga.Her other achievements include:
• Yin Yoga, TCM and Anatomy Teacher Training by Jo Phee (2013)
• Yoga for the Special Child by Sonia Sumar (2007)
• “Yin Yoga” by Yoga In Asia and Paul Grilley (2008 & 2009)

Ms Cham is currently teaching at Como Shambhala, The Yoga School. She also offers private and corporate classes.
